13th of November 2016, 1:30 and 6:30pm at the Congress Centre Prague.
Amadeus, the winner of 8 Academy Awards©, will be shown in Prague less than a month after the world premiere at London’s Royal Albert Hall (October 14, 2016) in the original form – projected on a vast HD screen while Mozart’s most celebrated works are performed live in-sync by a full orchestra and choir. The show in London has completely sold out several months in advance. As it is creating great interest in Prague as well, we are adding a matinee.
This renowned, epic motion picture was created as an adaptation of the original stage play written by recently deceased Peter Shaffer. Winner of 8 Academy Awards© (1984) including Best picture, Milos Forman`s sumptuous Amadeus is an aural and visual treat for all the senses.
A riveting story of the fateful clash between geniality and mediocrity was shot 32 years ago in Prague and involved a large number of Czech filmmakers and actors. The perfect camera work of Miroslav Ondříček, the fantastic costumes of Theodor Pištěk jr. and the beauty of Prague´s palaces, theatres and streets contributed to a unique atmosphere of the film.
“Amadeus weaves a beautiful, tragic fable captivating children and adults alike. It has gore, a pact with God, celebrity, a masked stranger, murder and some of the best music ever written. What other film offers half as much?“ (The Guardian)
Reintroducing Forman’s Amadeus now, in a year of Mozart`s significant anniversaries and shortly after its London world premiere will undoubtedly create a cultural highlight to all admirers of Mozart‘s music, Forman‘s films, the beautiful city of Prague and to audiences proud of our artists who have succeeded in gaining recognition abroad.
